Parents never have to worry about their kids being bored in Beijing. The only limitation to perpetual fun is how much time and money mom and dad are willing to spend. There's certainly no shortage of venues to entertain children inside and outside, year round.

Autumn has the best weather for playing outside in Beijing. Kids enjoy riding paddle boats on the lakes found in many of the city's parks, gazing at exotic animals in the Beijing Zoo and hiking through the beautiful forests of Fragrant Hills. They love the thrilling rides at Shijingshan amusement park and Happy Valley. Autumn means back to school, so after your youngster goes stir-crazy from being in class all day, they'll find plenty of outdoor excitement.

When December turns frosty kids can stay inside or bundle up and explore Beijing's outside winter wonderland. In the center of Beijing, the boats are pulled out of the water and Houhai Lake freezes over for winter fun. Kids and adults alike enjoy skating, ice sledding and even hockey. Beijing's scarce snowfall is no reason to miss the fun. Just outside the city you'll find plenty of ski resorts, each equipped with snow making machines. They have qualified instructors to teach children of all ages, like the six year-old girl pictured below.

Whether it's to escape the winter chill, spring winds, scorching summer heat or sandstorms and smog, there are more indoor venues for kids than they'll ever have time to explore.

One of Beijing kids' favorite places to burn lots of energy is a huge indoor playground aptly called Fun Dazzle, south of the Worker's Stadium. Children can slide into a large ball pool (pictured below), jump on a trampoline climb on a gigantic two story high jungle gym and glide down a number of slides. For toddlers, there's a special section with smaller equipment. There are plenty of staff keeping an eye on things so parents can just relax. But if it's your first time there, you'll be so dazzled you'll want to follow your kids all over the place with a camera.
