An international performing arts festival now is underway in Beijing. This is the "Beijing One International Arts of Performance Festival", which is taking place partly at the Times Art Museum in central Beijing.

Here, visitors are fascinated by Polish embroidery. The work can be found in ethnic clothing, bags, ornaments and belts.

"These embroideries became popular toward the end of the 19th century in Poland. It became a symbol of wealth and young women loved it."

Compared to traditional Chinese embroidery, the Polish style is more colorful and depicts the everyday life of the Polish people.

Apart from folk culture, the event also features photos by renowned international photographers. They highlight the diverse cultures of people from around the world.

Beijing is also setting the stage for another major cultural event, the 2013 Beijing Design Week, which kicks off at the end of September.

A warm-up event called "Design Consumption Season" will happen first, in about a month.

It promises to present a wide variety of brilliant designs, ranging from interiors, to furniture, to cars. It also aims to challenge the traditional view that purchasing design is only for companies and artists.

Zeng Hui, Beijing Design Week, said, "We want to invite individuals to appreciate design, and offer them designs as a commodity. This will greatly benefit the design industry in China."

More than 80% of housing in China is privately owned, so more and more people are investing in clever interior designs to make their living spaces more comfortable. Trends like this will definitely enable more people to live not only in affluence, but also in style.
