Beijing Int'l Book Fair draws more exhibitors
More than 2,000 exhibitors from 76 countries and regions will attend the 20th Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) which opens on August 28 at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing's Shunyi District, the BIBF Organizing Committee said.
The number of exhibitors represents an eight percent increase on 2012, according to the organizing committee.
The book fair, which will run until September 1, covers an exhibition area of 53,600 square meters. It includes the following exhibition areas: domestic publishing, overseas publishing, digital publishing, library acquisitions and periodicals, children's books, cartoons and Animation, publishing on demand and a rights center.
In line with previous years, famous authors and critics from China and abroad will be invited to give talks to visitors.
The book fair started in 1986, and has become a major international publishing gathering incorporating copyright trade, book trade, consultation services, forums and various cultural events.
It is now the world's third largest book fair, after the Frankfurt Book Fair and the London Book Fair. At the 2012 fair, more than 200,000 titles were displayed and 3,298 copyright agreements were signed, a 11.7 percent increase on 2011.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will serve as the Country of Honor this year.
The event is hosted by China National Publications Import & Export (Group) Corporation (CNPIEC).
