Cultural and creative companies from China and abroad will showcase more than 1,000 projects during the five-day expo, which aims to seek opportunities for cooperation with cultural industries abroad.

More than 100 activities, including a series of exhibitions, six forums, 13 business promotional sessions and 14 creative events will be staged at the China International Exhibition Center, this year's main venue, as well as 20 sub-venues across the capital city.

Starting Oct. 7, famous cultural companies and leaders from across China will showcase their latest achievements and products in the 16 themed exhibition areas at the main venue. Visitors can expect a grand cultural feast featuring exhibitions on cultural performances, animation games, arts and crafts, film and TV programs, cultural relics and museum collections, international culture and creative products, cultural tourism products and design creativity.

Activities to be held at the 20 sub-venues include the 11th China International Expo of Internet Culture, China (Beijing) Gifts Trade Fair, Third Global University Creation Expo, First Beijing International Cultural Week of Horology, Beijing-International Expo of Chinese Cultural Relics, Beijing International Comic Animation Carnival and China International Expo of Enterprises' Brand Culture.

The ICCIE, which was founded in 2006, has become a state-level platform for Chinese cultural businesses to showcase their strengths and latest achievements. It is an ideal place for international exchanges and business matching activities for the cultural industry to take place.

The previous seven sessions have seen deals worth 365.4 billion yuan (US$58.9 billion), according to statistics.

The event is hosted by China's Ministry of Culture, the General Administration of Press, Publications, Radio, Film and TV, and the Beijing Municipal People's Government.
