Beijing high-tech expo to return
The 17th China Beijing International High-Tech Expo (CHITEC) will open in Beijing on May 13, 2014.
Themed "Seeking development through innovation and integration," this year's CHITEC will include 15 exhibitions, seven summit conferences and more than ten business pitches.
The expo will showcase China's leading scientific achievements, and offer domestic enterprises a high-end platform to discuss with their foreign counterparts the new thoughts on and approaches to integrating economic and social development with S&T innovation.
Contracts of a number of high-end real economy projects and key industrial cooperative projects will be signed during the six-day event.
Contracts worth 86 billion yuan (US$13.9 billion) for a total of 123 deals were signed during the 16th CHITEC, which was attended by nearly 230,000 participants, including 220,000 visitors.
The CHITEC, a major national hi-tech expo, is a high-end platform displaying China's latest achievements and key breakthroughs in science and technology, as well as promoting tech cooperation among participants both from home and abroad.
The annual event is co-hosted by China's Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the State Intellectual Property Office and the Beijing Municipal Government.
The event will run until May 18.
