Beijing has launched a plan to attract more high-end foreign experts to work in the capital city, Chinanews.com reported.

Top-notch foreign experts will enjoy great benefits in medical treatment and insurance, as well as some other services offered by the government to help them better integrate into the local living environment, according to the plan released by the Beijing Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (BAFEA).

Foreign experts, whether old faces or new arrivals, can submit their application for inclusion into the plan if they are talents the city is in great need of, Cheng Jingang, an official with the BAFEA, said.

Cheng noted that a total of 392 high-end foreign experts have been given the status so far.

Under the plan, a high-end medical insurance product is customized to meet the different needs of foreign experts, according to Cheng.

Those recognized as high-end foreign experts will be eligible to apply for a foreign expert certificate valid for two to five years. The BAFEA will also help their children receive education at international schools or in the international classes at public schools in Beijing.

To help foreign experts quickly adapt to their life in Beijing, the municipal government will also provide them with Chinese language training courses, or host lectures on traditional Chinese culture and Beijing's basic facts.

By the end of 2013, there were about 40,000 expats working in the city, Cheng said.
