A total of 1,118 candidates have been recommended for the "2014 Beijing Role Model" awards over the past two months since the large-scale campaign of seeking role models in the city was launched on April 25.

The organizing committee of the campaign accepts recommendations for candidates between May and September through various channels, including different organizations, media agencies and self-recommendation.

A list of five new nominees will be publicized every week, and ten will make the monthly list after preliminary selection.

In October, there will be 50 finalists in the competition for the Beijing Role Model title, and ten of them will be selected through a combination of public online voting and deliberation by a judging panel.

An awards ceremony will be held in December to honor the ten winners.

The campaign, co-hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the Office of Beijing Civic Enhancement Committee, aims to honor citizens with good virtues.

An online portal--http://bjby.bjwmb.gov.cn/--has been developed for the public to make submissions before the 20th of each month.

People can also call hotline 010-65661566 to inform the organizing committee.
