Poland athlete retrieves lost gold medal in Beijing, thanks to taxi driver and police

Pawel Fajdek, Poland's gold-medalist at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing, retrieved his gold medal after he lost it in a taxi Sunday night, with the help of local police in Beijng.

The Legal Evening News reports on Monday that Pawel Fajdek lost his fresh-earned gold medal when he took a taxi out for dinner with his friends on Sunday. The athelte then reported the case to the local police in Chaoyang District, Beijing.

Having the gold medal back at his hands, Pawel Fajdek expressed great appreciation to the local police for pulling out their efforts to help him.

Pawel Fajdek won the men's hammer throw event with a throw of 80.88 meters at the 2015 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Beijing, on Aug. 23.
