World Car-Free Day marked in Beijing

The World Car-Free Day was marked in Beijing on Sept. 22, 2015 with a series of activities to promote green travel and eco-friendly commuting.

Three areas, namely, Wangfujing Street, Nanluoguxiang Hutong and Olympic Sport Center Area, were closed to cars from 9am to 4pm.

14 bus routes prolonged their operation time to meet citizens' transit needs as more car-owners shift to public transpot.

300 athletes cycled from Beijing to Chongli County, Hebei Province to advocate a low-carbon lifestyle.
