The number is 80 more than that in his hometown of London.

Terry came to Beijing five years ago and found that the capital city was truly a hub of migratory birds.

The birdwatcher and conservationist launched his blog--Birding Beijing--to record the details.

Terry has tried his best to protect birds over the past five years. He has spent much of his spare time in spotting illegal actions such as bird poaching and smuggling that he reports to the local authorities.

In between all these activities, he gives speeches at middle schools and museums when he has time.

"I hope people can get to know what species of birds live in our city," said Terry. "If we know nothing about this, we cannot protect these lovely creatures."
