At present, breastfeeding spaces are very limited in the large public transportation hubs in Beijing, such as the bus and subway. Starting this month, Beijing will openly seek advice for the newly revised "barrier-free facilities in urban rail transit design process."

Mother-and baby rooms will be set in the newly built subway stations which have large traffic volumes. Additionally, maternal and child function facilities will be built in accessible restrooms of the general stations. The new regulation will help mothers avoid the awkwardness of breastfeeding in public.
